Animated Typography
Animated typography for this video was created primarily in Premiere Pro with a few of the assets being built in After Effects. Afterwards an 8 foot wide LED wall was rented and placed behind the performers for the final shoot. Additional animation of the single artwork at 2:12 provided by Matthew Barrett (Bad Thing Creative Inc.)

Practical Effects
A straight up performance video with some subtle practical effects. While the video comes out swinging, the band still wanted to build tension and intensity towards the end. With each new section of the song, the amps, lighting and walls were moved closer together. The final chorus reveals that the entire video was projected into a mirror which shatters, reflecting the scattered image back at the viewer.

Striking Visuals
Videos for heavier songs tend to use low lighting, texture and movement to match the energy in the song. Mirroring the striking contrast of piano in this genre, we wanted to create a iconic looking video that stripped away each of those crutches. Completely baring the subjects, relying entirely on their performance to match the energy in the song. We left nothing for them to hide behind.

Animation
We wanted to create a vibrant, striking, and colourful video matching the visuals from the ‘Tusk II’ album artwork. The music video embraced this style through the use of a mesmerizing silhouette animation. 3,600 individual frames were hand drawn and then assembled to create the trip down the rabbit hole.

Tour Video & Daily Recaps
We not only filmed this Music Video during both Whale and the Wolf’s 2018 Canadian Tours, but individual recaps for every single city were released the day after each concert. Lots of sweaty ass editing crammed in the back of a sweaty ass tour van with these four sweaty ass dudes…

High Level Branding
Whale and the Wolf underwent a line up change and a shift in their sound building towards this release. It was important to the band that every visual presented to their viewers was consistent so that the message of this change was crystal clear. A high level, branded video referencing their single artwork was projected on a giant studio wall behind the performers.

Video Editing
Taylor Johnson of The Hope State reached out to me in need of editing for a music video that was already shot. Following an established narrative was key to bringing this edit to life.
